A solar cell beneath the dial converts natural and artificial light into electrical energy. The movement stores this energy in a rechargeable energy cell and uses it to operate the watch.

The watch recharges while it is exposed to light. Regular wear helps maintain the energy reserve without a daily charging routine. Compared with a conventional battery-powered quartz watch, the SMS34113 reduces the frequency of battery-related service because regular disposable battery changes are not required during normal operation.

The rechargeable energy cell is designed for long-term use but remains a wear component. Its capacity can decrease over time and may eventually require replacement by an authorised service centre.

42 mm stainless-steel case

The 42 mm stainless-steel case gives the SMS34113 a clear sports-watch profile for everyday wear, travel and outdoor activities.

Scratch-resistant sapphire crystal

The sapphire crystal helps protect the dial from scratches during daily wear and travel. This helps the watch retain a clear, well-maintained appearance and keeps the time easier to read over the long term.

100 m water resistance

The 100 m water-resistance rating gives you more freedom to wear the SMS34113 in everyday situations involving water instead of removing it at the first contact with rain or splashes.

Luminous hands and hour markers

Luminous hands and hour markers support readability in low-light conditions. The luminous material must be exposed to light before it glows in darkness. Brightness and duration depend on the intensity and duration of the previous light exposure.

Unidirectional rotating bezel

The rotating bezel lets you mark elapsed time at a glance, for example during an outdoor activity, a training session or a journey. Because it rotates in one direction, the selected time can only be shortened if the bezel is moved accidentally. The black finish also reinforces the functional sports-watch design.

The interchangeable band Easy-Click system allows compatible bands to be changed without tools. This lets you adapt the watch to everyday wear, travel, sport or a different personal style.

Expose the dial to light so that the solar cell receives as much light as possible. Natural and artificial light can recharge the movement. Direct sunlight charges the watch faster than indoor lighting, while indoor lighting requires longer exposure.

Charging time depends on light intensity, distance, angle, temperature and the starting charge level. Place the watch in a bright, well-ventilated area and avoid excessive heat, such as on a hot dashboard or behind glass in direct summer sun.

After complete discharge, place the watch in a bright environment until the movement restarts. Continue charging before wearing it so that the energy reserve is sufficient for normal operation.

The solar movement includes protection functions for the rechargeable energy cell:

• Quick-start function: The movement can resume after initial exposure to light.
• Battery protection mode: The movement reduces energy consumption when the charge level becomes critically low.
• Overcharge protection: The charging system protects the energy cell against excessive charging.

For longer storage, pull the crown to its outermost position to stop the movement and reduce energy consumption. Return the crown to its normal position before wearing the watch again.
